About us
We would like to inform you about our cancer center and its services on the following pages.
The Oncology Center at Magdeburg University Hospital was founded to further develop interdisciplinary tumor medicine in basic research, translational research, diagnostics and therapy. Our goal is to sustainably improve patient care for patients suffering from tumor diseases. This includes, as a characteristic of university oncology, access for patients to the latest scientific developments and clinical studies.
As a scientific and clinical institution of the University Medical Center Magdeburg (UMMD), the Oncology Center is the central coordination and management facility for interdisciplinary oncological patient care, research as well as promotion/training of young scientists and education and training of nursing staff and physicians.
Through the Oncology Center, cooperation among the various UMMD Centers, the Interdisciplinary Organ Tumor Centers (OTZ), Modules (M) and Specialties (SP) of the Oncology Center (OZ), as well as the disciplines in the field of oncology is organized and coordinated across the board. With unified interdisciplinary diagnostics, therapy, aftercare and rehabilitation as well as modern strategies for prevention and early detection of malignant diseases, the Oncology Center practices medical-oncological care at a high clinical and scientific level. In particular, tumor patients can also benefit directly from scientific progress within the framework of clinical studies and translational research projects.
Close cooperation and involvement of the entire medical care chain (primary care physicians, specialists, external hospitals, psychosocial aftercare facilities, self-help organizations and hospices) ensures and promotes comprehensive care for patients with tumor diseases.
